Dear Families,

With the growing concern internationally and locally regarding the Coronavirus, Milestones wants to ensure that we keep our families and staff abreast of the latest guidance regarding COVID-19 and Milestones’ preparation.

Please be assured that currently Milestones has no knowledge of any Milestones’ students, faculty, or family members who have been impacted by COVID-19; however, we have placed very diligent attention toward proactive planning in order to best support the health and safety of the Milestones community.

On a daily basis Milestones has been following all related advisories issued by the CDC, the Massachusetts and local departments of Public Health, the Massachusetts Department of Education, Massachusetts Association of 766 Approved Private Schools, legal partners, and the Governor’s office as it pertains to safety surrounding Coronavirus. We have participated in group-based conference calls for Massachusetts schools at large and are staying abreast of the most up to date public health guidelines. In addition, we have sought individual guidance regarding Milestones’ unique environment as a private special education school serving students from over 40 districts.

As you’re likely aware, information regarding the Coronavirus is rapidly changing including this afternoon when Governor Baker issued a state of emergency in Massachusetts.

*** Please be advised that Milestones will issue a memo to families tomorrow that will describe our latest guidance, and we intend to provide the Milestones’ community ongoing updates as any additional information becomes available. *

We understand that this is a concerning time, but we are here to support our students, families, and staff. Our school remains open, and we have been participating in thoughtful contingency planning to help keep our community well. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any individual questions, but we anticipate that tomorrow’s guidance will provide helpful information.

As an additional reminder, tomorrow (Wednesday, March 11th) is a half-day (12:00pm) dismissal for students due to staff’s professional development training.

Sincerely,

Kim
