Important Announcement Regarding April School Vacation and Change to our June Schedule
April 6, 2020
I hope that you had a positive weekend with your families. Please take a moment to read the attached important announcement from our Executive team regarding April school vacation and our last day of school in June.
- Given the state-wide unprecedented temporary school closures, DESE has authorized each school to make our own decision about whether to observe the traditional April school vacation week or to hold remote learning from Tuesday-Friday, April 21st -24th (*i.e., Monday, April 20th is Patriot’s Day, which is a required school closure date*).
- Milestones believes that it is in our students’ very best interest to continue remote learning during April vacation (Tuesday – Friday, April 21st-24th) in lieu of making up those school days in June. The attached letter describes the factors that led to this decision and the related update to our school calendar in more detail.
We are deeply appreciative that DESE is permitting each school to make an individualized decision regarding April vacation that best reflects the needs of our respective school communities. Thank you for your ongoing flexibility during this especially uncertain period. We are always thinking of our students first and foremost!
