Milestones Important Information: Letter from our Principal, Picture Day Tomorrow, Staff Appreciation Request from the PAG, and May’s PAG Meeting
April 26, 2021
Dear Families,
We hope that your families had an enjoyable vacation period last week. As we returned to school today, we have four important notifications for families.
- 1) Short Term Temporary Coverage for Kirsten Esposito (Principal): Please see the attached letter from our school principal. As some families may be aware, Kirsten’s husband has been awaiting a liver transplant, and Milestones has been very well prepared for this eventual surgery. Over the weekend her family received the important phone call that a liver was available, and he completed a successful surgery! Kirsten will be out temporarily, likely for at least 3 weeks, and during this time Tim Mahoney (Assistant Principal) will serve as families’ chief point of contact for Principal-related questions with Gillian Warwick (Special Education Administrator) overseeing IEP related matters. We’re so grateful that Kirsten’s husband is on his way toward recovery! Tim’s email address is: tmahoney@advancingmilestones.com and Gillian’s email address is: gwarwick@advancingmilestones.com.
- 2) Picture Day is Tomorrow (Tuesday, April 27th): Now that the spring weather has happily arrived, we are scheduled to take outdoor pictures of students tomorrow for our 2020-2021 school yearbook. If families would like to receive a digital copy, you are invited to please complete and have your student turn in the attached form with $5 (cash or check made out to “Milestones Day School“) by tomorrow if you have not already done so. If onsite students are absent tomorrow, the make-up day for pictures is next Friday, May 7th. For our remote students, our Yearbook team or your case manager will separately reach out to request a photo for your student prior to our Yearbook submission deadline.
- 3) Sign-Up Opportunity to Support the PAG’s Staff Appreciation Breakfast Next Wednesday, May 5th: Please see the letter below from our Parent Advisory Group regarding how you can help celebrate our faculty for National Teacher Appreciation Week by contributing desserts, snacks or treats for our Staff Appreciation breakfast next week!
Dear fellow parents,
Teacher Appreciation Week is soon approaching. This year it is May 3-7th. On Wednesday, May 5, the PAG will be providing staff with a breakfast similar to what we offered in December, which the staff really enjoyed. Pressed in Burlington will cater it again and will provide delicious individually wrapped breakfast burritos and egg sandwiches. We will have juice smoothies for staff as well. The day happens to fall on Cinco de Mayo, so to make it more festive the room will be decorated for the occasion. Fortunately due to everyone’s donation last year we have the funds available to make this happen. Thank you for your previous generosity.
One way we could still use your help, (optional of course) is to provide staff with desserts and/or treats. We received the okay from the COVID Task Force at Milestones to be able to send items in, as long as the items are each individually wrapped. As always items will also need to be peanut and tree nut free.
If you are interested you can use the a Sign Up Genius link provided. Items can be sent in on the vans Tuesday and Wednesday or if you drive your child, dropped outside the door.

For those who are not bakers or who are too busy we also set up an Amazon gift registry of items. We know for some that is more convenient. Back in the Fall staff were very appreciative of having snacks the PAG sent in.

As always we want to express our gratitude to the Milestones staff. They are an amazing team!!! We as a team of parents can let them know how much we appreciate all they do to help our children.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us directly.
Best,

- 4) Save the Date for the Final Virtual PAG Meeting of The School Year: Friday, May 14th (10:00-11:30am): We hope you will join us on May 14th for our last virtual Parent Advisory Group meeting for the present school year. Tim Mahoney (Assistant Principal) will present on the curriculum-related topic of “Writing at Milestones” and there will be time for additional discussion among families and members of our administration. We will circulate login information prior to the meeting date, and you do not need to RSVP in advance.
Thank you for your attention, and as always, please do not hesitate to outreach if you have any questions. Have a nice week ahead!
Sincerely,
Kim
