No School Tomorrow (Friday, 2/4/22) and COVID-19 Announcement (2/3/22)
February 3, 2022
Dear Families and Faculty,
I am writing to notify you with two updates.
1) No School Tomorrow (Friday, 2/4/22): To follow our automated voicemail this evening, Milestones will be closed tomorrow (Friday, February 4th) due to the impending weather conditions anticipated during the school commute hours. This decision is consistent with the plans of Waltham Public Schools.
2) COVID-19 Announcement
After school today we were notified that a student tested positive for COVID-19. This student was on campus during the period of infectiousness, but was not previously identified as a close contact to Milestones’ recent cases at school. We are wishing our student well for a speedy recovery and the individual will remain off campus until receiving medical clearance to return. Today we applied the COVID-19 timelines and procedures set forth for schools by DESE/DPH. (DESE/DPH defines the infectious period as: “The infectious period begins 2 days prior to symptom onset. If someone is asymptomatic, the infectious period is considered to begin 2 days prior to the collection of a positive test result”).
This afternoon and evening any confirmed close contacts from this case were notified by members of our School Nurse or members of our Administration team regarding next steps. (DESE/DPH defines close contacts as: “individuals who have been within 6 feet of a COVID-19 positive individual while indoors, for at least 15 minutes during a 24-hour period. Please note that the at-risk exposure time begins 48 hours prior to symptom onset [or time of positive test if asymptomatic] and continues until the time the COVID-19 positive individual is isolated”).
If you were not contacted by our School Nurse or an administrator this afternoon or evening regarding this situation, you (staff) or your child (families) were not identified as a potential close contact and there is no change to your schedule.
Thank you for your attention. As always, staff and families should please continue to monitor for symptoms according to our daily health attestations, and we hope that everyone has a safe long weekend!
