PAG Social Coffee Opportunity, Back to School Night Details with COVID-19 Vaccine Education, and an Addendum to our Cohorting Practice

September 23, 2021

Dear Families,

Happy start to the fall season!  We have three announcements to share with our parent/guardian community.

  1. Back to School Night (BTSN) and COVID-19 Vaccine Resource Information: Thursday, September 30th

Milestones will hold our annual Back to School Night for families in Elementary, Middle and High School to meet the staff working with their students this year. We will hold this event virtually, with links and more information coming to you in the weekly emails sent by your student’s Case Manager on Friday, 9/24. Back to School Night (BTSN) allows staff the opportunity to share topics that will be covered academically and therapeutically over the course of the current school year.

  • We are also offering an optional informational session presented by Heidi Warren (Project Coordinator) and Lyn Ross (School Nurse) titled:  “Resources and Support for Parents/Guardians Regarding the COVID-19 Vaccine” from 5:15pm – 5:45pm prior to the start of BTSN.  This educational opportunity is open to parents/guardians with students at all grade levels.

  • BTSN: Will be held virtually Thursday, September 30th, 2021 from 6:00pm – 7:30pm.  Please note that this event does not include the Post High School.

  • **An informational letter is attached to this email, additionally all links and schedules for this event will be shared by the Case Managers.

3. Addendum to our Cohorting Practice During Leisure and Recess:

We have a follow-up clarification to the memo sent on behalf of our Task Force on September 15, 2021 titled: “Milestones: Health and Safety Reminders and Updates.” After re-reading the Cohort Section, we wanted to make sure families understand that we distinguish the in-school “class” cohort from the “school” cohorts.  While we continue to have our students in class cohorts, with some students following approved academic groupings, our “school” programming remains in cohorts for leisure and recess activities.   Since Milestones has three different programs within our school that enjoy their time outside separately: Lower School (Elementary and Middle), High School, and our Post High Program, each school has dedicated times out.  This is how we continue this mitigation practice for risk reduction.  Thank you for continuing to support our efforts to promote opportunities for our students while maintaining safety.

We hope you have an enjoyable weekend ahead, and we look forward to seeing many of you virtually next Thursday evening (9/30)!

Sincerely,
Kim
