Update about a Temporary Electrical Evacuation Today That Has Been Resolved and After School Club Openings
April 16, 2021
Dear Families,
At approximately 10:45am this morning our fire alarms went off due to an elevator light bulb in our building that blew out and triggered the smoke alarm. This resulted in Milestones needing to temporarily evacuate for approximately an hour and fifteen minutes while the fire and electric departments resolved the issue and cleared our building to return. By following our school’s fire and emergency procedure protocols, we at first waited outside of the building when we anticipated that the matter would be quickly resolved but later moved indoors to an adjacent building in our office park due to today’s inclement weather. Our students did an excellent job remaining flexible and patient. The start time to lunch was briefly delayed, but our community is safely back inside at Milestones to finish the rest of the school day. Our remote families were notified about this disruption to programming, and we appreciate families’ patience and flexibility as well.
*** After School Club Sign-Ups: Also, as of today we still have room to accept some additional students in our Virtual Games and Code Ninjas Club Opportunities that will be running this spring. Those families who have already registered are confirmed. If you would still like to register your student(s), pasted below is the club information that we shared earlier this week.
Thank you, and we hope you have a great school vacation week ahead with your families!
Sincerely,
Kim
We’re very happy to share positive news that our Parent Advisory Group was able to secure an additional virtual after school club opportunity for interested students. Now families have 2 options to consider for spring participation, and you are welcome to register your student(s) for 1 or both as these clubs were deliberately scheduled on different days of the week. The two topics being offered at this time were the top #1 and #2 ranked options in our recent family survey. If the interest in participation exceeds the clubs’ capacity, registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis and we would keep a list of students to be prioritized for future opportunities.
- 1) Virtual Games: Hosted by Milestones’ Teaching Faculty
Please see the link below for a description and to sign-up for a Virtual Games club. The session will run for 6 weeks, 1 time per week on Tuesdays from 4:00-5:30pm (High School and Post High School) and on Thursdays from 4:00-5:30pm (Up to Grade 8). The cost is $180 ($20 per class).
- 2) Coding/Game Building: Externally Offered by the Code Ninjas Organization
Please see the description below for a club that will be run by the Code Ninjas organization for Milestones’ students. The session will run for 8 weeks, 1 time per week on Mondays from 5:00-6:00pm and the cost is $240 per student ($30 per class). If there is very high participation, the per-student cost may decrease but that would depend on total enrollment. Families may register directly with Code Ninjas at the following link:
